Slingshot Biosciences is hiring a Field Application Scientist to support our current customer base as well as a number of new opportunities in the Northeast region of the US. We offer a great opportunity to be in a critical customer-facing role while working cross-functionally with internal teams including Sales, Product Development, and Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Customer-facing role as part of the sales team supporting our catalog products.
- Partner with Sales to demo Slingshot products to prospective customers in a way that helps to develop the opportunity and build trust & credibility both internally & externally.
- Train customers on how to use Slingshot products as part of their overall flow experiment workflow.
- Work with customers in a consultative way to advise on workflow configurations and best practices.
- Stay abreast with current scientific literature especially as it applies to flow cytometry, compensation or immune assays
- Partner with our Product Development team to help troubleshoot and resolve customer issues.
- Regularly provide feedback on product features and improvement to our Product Development, Marketing and Sales teams.
- Help leadership foster a "win together" approach to team culture and celebrate wins.

Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in flow cytometric assays with 8 or more colors
- Experience with ELISA and/or receptor occupancy/binding assays a plus
- Strong public speaking skills and experience are highly preferred
- Working knowledge of flow cytometry workflows, instruments (analyzers and sorters) and reagents
- Knowledge of a typical flow cytometry customer journey and best practices
- Experience with clinical flow cytometric assays a plus
- Experience supporting commercial organizations and processes, and ability to function in a trusted advisor capacity for our customers
- Strong strategic, conceptual, and analytical thinking skills
- High adaptability and flexibility, including the ability to manage ambiguity and change in a very fast-moving and growth-oriented environment.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, project management, time management, and communication skills
- Very high level of comfort having customer-facing conversations, both operational and strategic; experience with customer training strongly preferred
- Previous experience in a customer-facing pre-sales and support capacity strongly preferred
- Ability to work independently and proactively
- Must have excellent English communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Willingness to learn Slingshot Biosciences business processes and their implementation into flow cytometric assays
- 50-70% travel expected within the defined territory with occasional travel to Slingshot Biosciences in Emeryville, CA as needed.

Experience/Education
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in the Life Sciences, Immunology preferred
- Experience running flow cytometers, sorters or both.
- Experience with extracellular and intracellular staining protocols for flow cytometry experiments
- Experience in a Biotech startup strongly preferred
Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, and training/certifications. In addition to those factors, we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate, and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance, contributions, and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary. The base salary range for this full-time position is between $85,000 to $110,000 + equity + benefits.
