Fiber Optic Technician (Sub-Contractor)

Summary:
NGN TECHNOLOGIES LLC (NGN). NGN is seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to work as Sub-Contractors; Sub-Contractors need to have their own tools and test equipment. Contractors need to own their own bucket truck or ladder. Jobs will be provided to the sub-contractor on a weekly basis. NGN is currently seeking a sub-contractor to work in CAPE CORAL, FLORIDA. NGN provides OSP telecommunication support services to major companies in the USA. We are currently hiring fiber splicers for a major FTTH deployment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ability to fusion splice SM loose tube fiber optic cables, to include or terminate various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC, LC)
- Installs and tests pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types and sizes of cable
- Analyzes and troubleshoots basic technical problems or issues
- Reviews interpret and work with various maps, drawings and blueprints, and testing documents.
- Proficient in the use of OTDR, Power Meter, Fiber Identifier, Light Sources, and other fiber testing equipment.
- Performs daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
- Performs optical continuity and conformance testing
- Sub-contractor must be equipped with own bucket truck or ladder.
- Makes splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
- Possess computer skills, ability to use MS Word, Excel, and Emails
Qualifications:
- To apply one must have own vehicle and equipment
- High school diploma or equivalent experience
- Experience in the engineering, construction, architecture, or telecommunications industries desired
- Working knowledge of telecommunications networks.
- Working knowledge of telecommunications engineering standards
- Knowledge of telecommunications construction techniques, including outside plant construction techniques, cable routing, and fiber networking
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to read, understand, interpret, input, and analyze data
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks
- Ability to travel domestically
- Ability to telecommute
- Ability to pass drug screening tests
- Possess a valid driver’s license and meet the company’s insurance carrier’s criteria for coverage under the company’s insurance policy
The successful candidate is an independent contractor; the work is production-driven and is paid on piece rate. There are no medical benefits offered.
