Background on Southbridge Public Schools:
Southbridge Public Schools serve approximately 2,200 students in six schools. The district is presently undergoing extensive turnaround at all levels, with the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This creates unique opportunities for teachers and students. One example is a recently announced, long-term partnership with the University of Connecticut to develop Southbridge Schools to be a national demonstration site for successful implementation of PBIS strategies. Additionally, our district is the recipient of a number of significant grants that are allowing us to creatively redesign Secondary School, curriculum enhancements, improved culture and climate and afterschool opportunities for students. July 5, 2023-August 4, 2023 Monday-Friday 7:45am-1:15pm

Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited college with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English and Spanish to perform the duties of this position
  • Relate well to people of all ethnic groups
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills
  • Citizenship, residency or Work VISA in the United States required
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Maintain daily attendance records for program. Contact parents/guardians regarding absences. Update DESE attendance spreadsheet daily.
  • Establish and maintain a parent/guardian resource center in the 21st Century after-school program
  • Assist in interpretation of school and program policies, regulations and/or activities to parents/guardians and students
  • Translate materials that are frequently mailed to parents/guardians
  • Create electronic/paper monthly newsletter for parents using stories and pics from program. Engage interested students in the process of creation of media.
  • Provide information to parents/guardians about procedures, instructional programs and names and roles of 21st Century administrators and staff members
  • Connects parents/guardians in the 21st Century Program to resources available throughout the school system and community
  • Serve as the contact person for parents/guardians to call with questions about 21st Century activities and events
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Facilitate family engagement and educational opportunities to increase literacy and related educational development on a weekly basis. Assisted by Assistant Coordinator.
  • Seek ways to involve parents/guardians in their child’s education
  • Keep appropriate records of meetings with parents/guardians
  • Perform such other tasks as related to the goals and objectives of the School Improvement Plan and 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant Program
  • Assist Assistant Coordinator with data collection and connecting school day academic needs of students to after school enrichment.
  • Maintain district and program health and safety protocols (including COVID19) from program start to end.
Salary: $30.00 per hour
