Location: HOUSTON

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00AM - 2:30PM

Pay Rate: $17.40 – $18.66

Job Description

Summary Set up, operate, or tend machines to saw, cut, shear, slit, punch, crimp, notch, bend, or straighten metal or aluminum material.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Operate and set-up various machines with minimal instruction. Machines may include Punch press, Shear, Band Saw, Bender, Water Jet and/or Plasma cutters.

Know all equipment in area of responsibility; understand and use equipment effectively.

Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary.

Utilize the machines in the dept in order to cut/bend/burn pieces to size and specs as required.

Work in a fast-paced environment in order to keep up with production requirements.

Demonstrate and perform safety practices at all times.

Possess attentiveness to detail, steady hands, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow instructions and interpret drawings or descriptions of cutting needs.

Perform accurate measurements and basic arithmetic.

Perform any pre-use inspections and post-use shutdowns; Perform basic preventive maintenance and safe keeping of equipment.

Assist management with any other machine related operations deemed necessary within the Department.

Maintain run time and production records.

Assist in performance of other duties as needed to meet the objectives of the department.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

Must be able to read shop drawings and instructions; Must be able to accurately use and read measuring tools.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in various machine operations.

Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.

Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
