The Executive Director (ED) is a part-time position (avg. 35hrs/week) reporting to the Board of Directors. The ED will be responsible for achievement of the organization’s mission, as well as achievement of program and financial objectives.

Responsibilities include:

· Leadership – Provide leadership for Qué Tal that engages and mobilizes staff, teachers, directors, volunteers, families, and students in pursuit of the mission, vision and strategic objectives of the organization. Develop short- and long-range strategies and a business plan to achieve the program mission. Establish a leadership presence for Qué Tal and recognition as an established and successful Spanish language program. Lead new initiatives and drive organizational efficiency with the assistance and support of the staff and Board. Implement systems to regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure program effectiveness. Engage and collaborate with the Board to leverage the skills, relationships and resources of staff and individual Board members to achieve the goals of the program.

· Management – Responsible for the overall management, planning and leadership of Qué Tal. Drive organizational efficiency. Oversee budget and physical facilities. Regularly review and update human resource policies and procedures for all staff. Maintain written, detailed job descriptions for each position within the organization. Oversee development of formal observation and evaluation protocols that include ratings and indicators. Ensure formal teacher observations at least three times per year, as well as a written evaluation one time per year for other staff. Regularly review and update written protocols for yearly teacher assignments. Manage through changes in the external and regulatory environment (e.g., evolving health protocols).

· Finance – Develop appropriate annual budget and longer-term financial objectives and lead the program in consistently achieving these objectives. Manage Qué Tal’s annual budget, including setting tuition and fees for program services. Ensure official records and documents for the program are maintained and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations. Oversee the yearly external audit.

· Education and Curriculum – Direct and evaluate effectiveness of language curriculum and instruction in collaboration with the Teacher Leads. Act as liaison with Wayzata and Edina School Districts regarding students (including busing and transition to high school), curriculum, and programming. Identify, measure and communicate performance metrics that demonstrate progress in achieving the mission.

· Marketing and Communications -- Deepen and expand all aspects of communication, from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand. Continue to build and enhance the program’s relationship with cooperating School Districts. Develop promotional programs to ensure student enrollment goals are met. Develop family engagement programs.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years of relevant leadership and team management experience demonstrating an understanding of non-profit organizational models and operations
  • Finance and budgeting experience that includes understanding profit and loss statements, cash flow analysis, and small organization finances and taxes
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, familiarity with standard Microsoft Office programs and with website management tools
  • Strategic, self-directed, organized, responsive, creative, entrepreneurial, resilient, and collaborative
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
  • Successfully pass a criminal background check

Preferred:

  • Master’s or advanced degree in education, business, non-profit management, or other relevant field of study
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Experience in educational programs, specifically as teacher or administrator
  • Experience and success implementing fundraising and/or revenue generation
  • Superior customer service skills
