Executive Assistant To The Policy Team (Executive Assistant I (U) ) (Vacancy)
Job description
This is a full-time position with work hours and days of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some evening and weekend hours which may be required as job duties demand.
This position will provide administrative support to the Policy Team: work on projects and events of the Columbus Women’s Commission; support projects and strategies of Opportunity Rising and the City’s equity agenda; provide regular and special reports and correspondence; schedule meetings and events, and perform general and varied clerical functions and other duties as assigned.
A person who has been selected by an appointing authority in accordance with the Columbus City Charter, Section 148(1) is said to have received an unclassified appointment. Those individuals receiving unclassified appointments serve at the pleasure of their appointing authority and may be terminated from employment at any time. Under direction, is responsible for providing administrative support to the Policy team; performs related duties as required.
- Develops and supports social media strategies and external written communication through newsletters, reports and with, event flyers, pamphlets, and brochures;
- Supports special projects, events, and campaigns related to the Columbus Women’s Commission, its work plans and strategies, and its bi-monthly meetings;
- Supports commissioners and associated working committees of the Columbus Women’s Commission;
- Supports planning of events, campaigns, and community activities, and the development of strategic plans related to the Columbus Commitment Pay Equity Adopters; researches best practices, and recommends policies to support and advance gender and racial equity;
- Prepares and compiles various information, confidential material, statistical reports, and other special data for meetings and presentations for the Policy team;
- Schedules meetings and appointments for the Policy team;
- Assists with special projects and special correspondence pertaining to the Mayor’s Office;
- Prepares mass mailings for office initiatives and specialized events;
- Maintains a confidential filing system;
- Handles material of a sensitive and confidential nature.
Desired Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, or the combination of a certificate of high school completion or equivalence (GED) and one or two years of general office experience;- Comfort using a variety of software platforms (including Zoom, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Google forms, Canva, Facebook, and LinkedIn) and the flexibility and ability to learn new systems that might be unfamiliar;
- General knowledge of Columbus Women’s Commission, Opportunity Rising, and the City’s equity agenda; and
- Working knowledge of local government and the community.
