Equestrian-Barn Hand and English/and or Western Riding Instructor
Job description
Cordillera Equestrian Center is seeking a hard-working and engaging individual for a barn hand and horseback riding instructor position. Our Equestrian Center is located on 300 acres of land in Boerne's Hill Country. Currently we have 29 horses, but we are still growing. We cater to Cordillera Ranch members and their guests. The barn offers boarding, English and western horseback riding lessons, guided trail rides, kids' horse camps, parties, riding clinics, and social events.
This is a part time position feeding and providing daily care for the horses, barn upkeep, exercising horses, teaching lessons, and giving guided trail rides throughout the property. For lessons, we serve a wide range of riders- beginners, experienced, children, adults, English, western, pleasure, jumping, etc. For trail rides, you must be able to efficiently saddle multiple horses and converse with members while leading their ride. Hours would be either be Friday-Sunday, 7:30 am-4 pm or Wednesday-Friday, 7:30 am-4 pm. If you would like to teach extra lessons outside of these times, that would be welcomed. We also have five 4-day-long summer camps, and if you would like to work these, it would be a plus.
* Horse care and riding experience*
- Must be able to communicate and interact with members and boarders, especially kids
- Enough knowledge and experience to give English horseback riding lessons, jumping experience is a huge plus
- Ability to give guided trail rides
- Basic skills in mechanics and working with tools
- Must be able to pass background check
- 16-24+ hours 2-3 days a week starting at $11/hr. (Must work Fridays and Saturdays, possibly one more day each week)
