Job Summary and Qualifications
Assist Tyson’s Corner Freestanding Emergency Department staff in performing duties necessary to maintain a clean, antiseptic facility, to keep the physical structure and interior finishes of the facility in good repair and to provide a safe and secure environment for all patients, employees, visitors, medical staff and hospital assets.
1. Maintain cleanliness in patient areas and administrative offices with daily wet and dry mopping, vacuuming, and spot removal to tiled and carpeted floors. Wash ceilings, walls, light fixtures, windows and air vents.
2. Dust horizontal surfaces, damp wipe furniture, empty wastebaskets. Make patient beds, replenish room supplies. Scrub bathroom tile and fixtures. Perform checkout cleaning where applicable.
3. Perform stripping and waxing of facility floors as required and utilize appropriate methods.
4. Remove trash and soiled linen (utilizing body substance precautions). Place in utility room for later pickup and transport to designated areas for compacting, incineration, or laundering.
5. Perform hazardous and biohazardous waste removal in accordance with hospital compliance standards, MSDS, and OSHA regulations.
6. Maintain hospital/Emergency Room equipment in sanitary condition.
7. Assist in cleaning up emergency spills.
8. Maintain routine records of all repairs performed on any equipment or system.
9. Perform manual duties as requested (i.e. moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material).
10. Participates in quality improvement activities (teams, classes, daily work life) as appropriate.
11. Maintain effective lines of communication with all the medical staff, employees, administrative staff, or diplomatic visitors when required.
12. Demonstrates a professional appearance at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Previous hospital experience preferred, 2-3 years prior hospital EVS Aide experience preferred.
Ability to maintain a mature, professional manner and demonstrate sound judgment when dealing with physicians, Leaders and staff.
Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
