Overview:
The Electrical Engineering Manager, Food and Beverage coordinate the interrelating activities of subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and customers, design and engineering efforts of the Electrical Engineers in the Food and Beverage division.

Who we want… (Requirements)
The new team member is required to have a minimum of 20 years of experience in Electrical Engineering. Preference will be given to candidates with design of food and beverage processing facilities and with a Professional Engineering License.

Must possess basic computer skills including the ability to utilize word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail applications. Also, utilize programs for calculating loads and performing cost analysis. Proficiency with AutoCAD is needed as well as working knowledge of Revit.

The candidate must be physically located in the Lexington, KY office.

Qualifications:
What we expect… (Essential Functions)
The Electrical Engineering Manager, Food and Beverage coordinate the interrelating activities of subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and customers, design and engineering efforts. Will monitor and report the delivery of all needed materials for the project(s) ensuring optimum prices, quality and conformance to specifications.

Negotiates contracts with subcontractors and vendors for various trades, ensuring that all phases of the work are encompassed and that a clear definition of work responsibility is defined. Review and approve subcontractor and vendor payment requests. Issue changes in the work to receive prices from subcontractors in a timely fashion. Work with design and project managers to ensure project(s) is/are designed, procured and constructed within the boundaries of operating guidelines, while conforming to technical requirements and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity. Work performed with minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects:

Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements: Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer.
Reviews construction documents and construction installed from subcontractors to confirm compliance with scope and contract documents.

Reviews and updates electrical engineering design standards.

Other duties may be assigned.

Specifically the Electrical Engineering Manager, Food and Beverage is responsible for developing the front end engineering design including:

  • Provide electrical engineering design strategy and technical support on electrical engineering reviews, strategic plans, and projects, including but not limited to medium and low voltage electrical switch gear; emergency power systems (including generator and UPS); application of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC); power monitoring system and SCADA, power system automation, protection and relaying; motor control centers (MCC); power distribution; lighting; fire alarm system; security systems and computer networks.
  • Reviews MEPR systems designed by others and work with code officials, contractors and local utility providers
  • Interface with client, contractors, and vendors on technical issues
  • Develops allocation, budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling
  • Manages the development cost estimates and helps determine affordable and reliable material sources.
  • Establishes technical standards in reviews, documentations, and designs
  • Manages engineering teams and other electrical engineering staff members
  • Actively participates in industry organizations (IEEE)
  • Participate and lead Client meetings.
  • Review construction shop drawings; respond to RFI's, perform site visits
  • Serves as the lead technical advisor for defining and solving electrical engineering issues
  • Ensures drawings and specifications meet overall project requirements as well as project scope, budget and schedule
  • Reviews project designs prepared by others to ensure that they are properly designed in accordance with acceptable engineering standards, code compliant, constructible, meet project goals.
  • Develop client relationships to support the needs for electrical projects

This position has indirect supervisory responsibilities of drafters and of administrative assistants for work generated by this individual.
