Engineer - Continuous Improvement Engineer - Altec Parts Distribution

The Altec Parts Distribution Continuous Improvement Engineer is an entry-level position for leading continuous improvement initiatives across Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, and Parts Sales to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer service levels under the guidance of more experienced engineers and associates.

Responsibilities

• Participates and lead continuous improvement efforts in the areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Productivity that align with the departmental objectives and day-to-day operations
• Learn and utilize lean principles and Altec Production System to improve processes across Warehouse Operations, Purchasing, and Part Sales in current and future operations.
• Maps and documents processes.
• Monitors costs, labor efficiency, space utilization, machine capability, etc. using data tools
• Support Capital projects
• Manage various sizes of Altec projects
• Interface with internal and external Suppliers and Customers

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Learns Altec's product lines and systems/rules/processes required for different Engineering roles at Altec.
• Learn to track, report, and analyze performance, and development/automation of reports.
• Collects data and performs statistical analysis. Drive process improvement activities to achieve dramatic improvement in the key business metrics
• Supports Value Stream Maps & Kaizen Events through all stages.
• Supports continuous improvement deployment using fundamentals of lean (standard work, visual management, continuous flow). Completes CI projects that lead to improved business results
• Ensures processes and procedures are implemented and adhered to.
• Responsible for:
  • satisfying internal/external customers
  • actively support internal/external suppliers and processes.
• Develop skills to engage with, build relationships, and influence all levels of the organization, including business leadership, to design and implement solutions
• Operates with appropriate entry-level decision-making latitude within the scope of an assignment
• Communicates effectively
• All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• ABET EAC certified Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a Master's Degree in Engineering
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Data analysis experience - Preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft programs
• Must be able to work independently and with team members
• Flexible to operate in a fast-paced environment, self-driven
• Capable of multi-tasking with excellent time management skills
• Internal Candidates will be an associate in good standing
• Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying
