/Duties
- Maintain the positive connections that the university has with its alumni by being enthusiastic, positive, polite and understanding, and being a proponent of SUNY Cortland, its history, programs, alumni and supporters
- Contact alumni and friends to update individual’s personal and contact information, answer questions about the university and build/maintain relationship between constituents and SUNY Cortland
- Recruit volunteers for the Reunion Committee and other opportunities, including registering for local, regional and virtual events
- Educate prospective donors on the goals of The Cortland Fund and solicit annual gifts for the Cortland College Foundation, while handling each call with courtesy, tact and sensitivity
- Accurately enter data, manage alumni and donor records, and follow all confidentiality and security measures to protect information
- Assist with personalized donor stewardship by sending hand-written postcards and thank you notes and submitting video messages through ThankView for SUNY Cortland donors
- Assist with various office tasks in the Cortland College Foundation, including scanning, filing, shredding, preparing mailings and other duties as assigned
- Additional responsibilities for the calling managers include opening, preparing and closing the call center for calling shifts, updating callers on changes, resolving technology issues, processing credit card transactions and assisting other students as needed
Days/Hours Needed
Shifts are scheduled as stated below on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays when classes are in session. Shifts will be scheduled upon hiring and remain consistent for the semester.
- Office shifts: 10 to 4 p.m.
- Calling shifts: 6 to 8:30 p.m.
- Calling shifts for managers: 5:45 to 8:45 p.m.
Managers must be available for at least one office shift, one calling shift and two managing shifts per week.

Required Qualifications
Ideal candidates are confident, self-motivated, willing and able to learn and have good attention to detail. Responsible, dependable, mature, outgoing, and optimistic individuals will do well in this position. Other requirements include:
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently, within a team, under direction from others and by initiative
- Proficiency in basic computer applications; ability to accurately enter data and navigate complex computer database systems
- An understanding of and appreciation for SUNY Cortland and its history
- Ability to speak English clearly
- Must be a current SUNY Cortland student
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a student ambassador or management experience
- Telemarketing, fundraising, marketing or sales experience
- Bilingual a plus
