MSTS is seeking an Emergency Response Specialist to support the Technical Analysis and Planning Department at the North Las Vegas Facility in Nevada. We are searching for an enthusiastic and energetic individual looking to join our dynamic hazards analysis team that is responsible for developing emergency planning and security hazards analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior level scientist with emergency management all-hazards/technical planning at the NNSS and other locations operated by MSTS.
- Assist (research, review, validate) in the preparation of all-hazards/technical planning documents, such as Emergency Planning Hazazds Surveys (EPHSs) and Emergency Planning Hazards Assessments (EPHAs).
- Assist with the integration of security analyses (e.g., Security Risk Assessments) and EPHSs and EPHAs.
- Assist senior level scientist in the performance of all-hazards/technical planning consequence analysis.
- Provide technical support to the development and maintenance of emergency management training, drills and exercises.
- Conduct readiness assurance activities, such as assessments of the emergency management program.
- Collaborate on emergency management with staff, as assigned by the manager, with an emphasis in the area of emergency management.
- Participate as an on-call member of the Emergency Response Organization.
- Perform other duties assigned by Management.
- Bachelor’s in related field or equivalent training and experience and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in emergency management.
- Ability to assist with technical and scientific analysis, to include performance of manual calculation of algebraic equations.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to use judgement and follow oral and written instructions in completion of assigned tasks.
- Ability to plan and organize work to assure that all assignments are completed within the required time frame.
- Must be able to cope with conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks.
- Working knowledge of the following software: Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
- The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
- Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
- Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted. Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is $ 60,777.60 - $91,166.40.
Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
