We are seeking a great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills for the role of Elementary STEM teacher. The STEM teacher will be responsible for developing hands-on learning activities, working with teachers to provide support for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics instruction. This will include providing creative resources, tending to individual student needs, supporting teachers, and communicating regularly with parents.To ensure success as a STEM teacher, candidates should have a strong quantitative background, demonstrate empathy, and have good written and verbal communication skills. Ultimately, a top-notch STEM teacher will have excellent classroom management abilities and engage students with the subject matter.Orange Southwest Supervisory Union has made significant investments in STEM materials and equipment.

At the elementary level, we have invested in multiple units from the Boston Museum of Science, EiE program. We have also invested in robotics from Wonder Workshop. At the secondary level, we have VEX robotics and an innovation space that includes 3D printers, laser cutters, Wazer water jet cutter, CNC, NED robotic arm, and much more. Knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards, STEM teaching practices and previous experience working with students.Skill in designing instruction that incorporates student engagement and small-group learning experiences STEM Teacher Responsibilities: Collaborate with STEM team to continue developing the OSSD STEM curricula.Plan STEM lessonsAdopting a data-driven attitude towards measuring learner progress.Developing STEM learning activities and hands-on material for classes.Attending to individual student needs.Providing extra support to students who need it.Monitoring student growth to identify strengths and areas for improvement.Using learner data to refine curriculum.Providing regular feedback to students.STEM Teacher Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.Eligibility for a Vermont teaching license.Knowledge of STEM best practices and the design process.Excellent written and verbal communication.Proficiency with technology.Experience working with children and adolescents.Good classroom management skills.Good teamwork abilities.
