OVERVIEW OF ROLE: Match is seeking an Elementary Literacy Curriculum Specialist who can join our team for the 2023-2024 school year and beyond. The Elementary Literacy Curriculum Specialist will improve reading and writing growth and achievement at Match by serving as a curriculum resource and as a leader, with a particular focus on early literacy. The person in this role will provide communication, resources, technical assistance and professional development to school leaders and teachers around literacy curriculum and assessment.
The Elementary Literacy Curriculum Specialist will support instructional leaders in tracking and analyzing important literacy assessment data to drive instruction and plan interventions. The position is based at Matchs elementary school (Match Community Day), located on 100 Poydras St. in Hyde Park. This is a hybrid position, with up to 2 days/week of remote work time.
The Elementary Literacy Curriculum Specialist will report directly to the Chief Schools Officer. The compensation for this position starts at $88,000 and can be higher based on prior experience.RESPONSIBILITIES: Literacy Curriculum : -Review current literacy strategy and audit existing curriculum;-Collaborate with instructional leaders and teachers to support curriculum implementation;-In conjunction with instructional leaders, plan and deliver professional development on literacy curriculum;-Codify instructional strategies (foundational skills such as phonics and fluency, the writing progression, close reading, task analysis etc.) and ensure vertical alignment across grade levels.Literacy Assessment and Interventions: -Coordinate literacy assessment windows, logistics and communication;-Collaborate with instructional leaders and teachers on standards based grading and rubric creation;-Monitor and track reading growth and achievement data;-Coordinate with the leadership team to ensure that teachers have the time and tools required to analyze literacy data and create action plans, and serve as a resource during analysis and action planning; support instructional leaders in providing feedback to teachers on their action plans;-Identify and communicate literacy assessment date trends to instructional leaders and collaborate with them to create instructional initiatives and grade-level specific professional development;-Identify students of concern and collaborate with instructional leaders and teachers to make intervention plans.Districtwide Responsibilities: Consult on curriculum alignment beyond the grade span in which they are directly responsible.Collaborates with other curriculum specialists and Deans of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure program coherence and vertical alignment.QUALIFICATIONS: Research has shown that people of color and women are less likely to apply for jobs if they dont believe they meet every one of the qualifications described in a job description. Competitive applicants for this position will have: -Demonstrated commitment to the Match Charter Public School mission.-A Masters Degree as a Reading Specialist, or related field, strongly preferred.-A valid and appropriate Reading Specialist licensure issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, strongly preferred;-Prior training and/or experience with one or more reading programs: iReady, STEP, STAR, Fountas and Pinnell LLI, and/or Orton-Gillingham, strongly preferred;-Detail oriented and highly organized with strong analytical skills.-Strong knowledge of intervention strategies;-Entrepreneurial approach to initiatives and problem solving; and -Dedication to urgently improving student growth and achievement outcomes.
