Electronics Technician

Siemens Manufacturing Co., the Midwest region’s premier manufacturer of printed circuit boards and electronic assemblies, is experiencing growth in our business and is in need of an entry-level Electronics Technician to supplement our production support capabilities. We are a privately held business in our fifty fifth year of service with manufacturing facilities located in Freeburg and New Athens, IL, approximately 20 minutes southeast of downtown St. Louis. This position will have responsibilities primarily in our New Athens facility.

Job Summary

Reporting through the Engineering organization, the Electronics Technician will be supporting Production by testing new production boards, maintaining test fixtures, performing failure analysis on boards or assemblies, and performing component-level rework. This will involve using standard electronic test equipment to test new production boards or assemblies as well as debugging failed boards or assemblies to the component level. The technician will then be responsible for the repair of these assemblies. The technician will also assist the Engineering staff in the fabricating and validating new test fixtures or in documenting test fixtures for production use. Duties will be commensurate with experience level.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform functional testing of electronic circuit boards or assemblies.
  • Maintain production test fixtures.
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause determination on electronic boards and assemblies.
  • Perform rework on these assemblies as needed.
  • Assist the Engineering staff as necessary in the design, fabrication, testing, or documentation of new production test fixtures.
  • Assist the Production staff with environmental stress testing or in-circuit testing of boards and assemblies.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronics Technology, military electronics training, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Basic experience in component-level electronics debug and repair.
  • Basic soldering skills.
  • Ability to operate standard types of electronic test equipment including oscilloscopes, DVMs, power supplies, function generators, etc.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desired Qualifications

  • More extensive experience in component-level electronics debug and repair.
  • Knowledge of the PCB fabrication process.
  • Experience with electronic schematic capture and PCB layout software, preferably using Mentor Graphics software.
