Reporting to the EHS Lead, the Occupational Health and Safety Specialist is the primary EHS representative to support all Environmental, Health and Safety related topics for a specific shop/department in Gigafactory Berlin.

The candidate must work well on both self-initiated projects and those driven by priorities outlined by management. The ideal candidate takes pride in his/her communication skills, analytical abilities, organization skills and attention to detail.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Support Managers and Supervisors in creating risk assessments and in mitigation of these risks.
• Assessment of workplaces regarding occupational safety and ergonomics.
• Support Managers and Supervisors to select the suitable control measures such as Personal Protective Equipment.
• Creation and coordination of Safety Operating Instructions (Betriebsanweisungen)
• Support Managers and Supervisors in recording events like injuries, illnesses, near misses and property damages and their learnings.
• Support Managers and Supervisor with the implementation of emergency response management, communication, trainings and evacuations.
• Organizing periodical communication with Managers and Supervisors regarding risks, events, trainings and other KPI’s.
• Initiate and help implement Health and Safety related trainings.
• Initiate Workplace Inspections and actions.
• Support Authority visits and inspections.
• Work together with other Specialists on Machine Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Hazardous Chemicals/Materials, health programs, etc.
• Support Global and Regional Initiatives like Human Organizational Performance (HOP), MyEHS System implementation, Take Charge, Global EHSS Week/Month, etc.

Skills and Experience:

• Engineering studies in the field of safety technology, fire protection, mechanical engineering, hygiene management, risk management, medical technology, ergonomics or comparable, alternatively, the equivalent in experience.
• Several years of professional experience, ideally in the industrial or automotive sector or alternatively, the equivalent in experience
• Completed training as a specialist for occupational safety (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit)
• Training in the field of dangerous goods, fire protection, CE representative or laser and radiation protection or waste management is desirable.
• Ability to work in a challenging and fast paced, collaborative environment and creatively problem-solve.
• Very good communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, ability to build strong relationships.
• Demonstrated project management skills and ability to collaborate across departments, multi-task and prioritize.
• Well organized with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, Fluent in English and German.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365, including SharePoint.
