The Opportunity:

The Site EHS Specialist provides leadership of environmental, health and safety practices and environmental sustainability efforts onsite in our manufacturing facility. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring that the EHS Management System is effective and drives continuous improvement through all facets of the program. We will rely on you to review, update, and or develop and implement our EHS policies, procedures and management systems assuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The successful candidate will serve as the subject matter expert on workplace and jobsite environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, practices, and regulatory compliance!

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with global Operations and Business Leaders to effectively integrate EHS into our business processes
  • Ensure EHS awareness, understanding, and compliance with applicable EHS regulatory and contractual requirements by maintaining up to date knowledge and conducting regulatory audits
  • Support ChemTreat, Water Quality platform and Danaher sustainability initiatives for energy and waste reduction and water stewardship
  • Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol
  • Develop, facilitate, and document site specific EHS Training requirements for all site associates
  • Formulate and articulate EHS best practices, goals & objectives, initiatives, and key performance indicators. Maintain all records and documents
  • Develop and execute actions to reduce EHS risks using the 4E Risk Assessment DBS (Danaher Business System) Tools
  • Lead incident investigations and corrective action closure with urgency pertaining to emergency response events, including but not limited to, environmental or safety incidents and significant near misses
  • Develop and implement injury prevention strategies and program initiatives to minimize and/or eliminate occupational exposures in order to achieve world class safety performance
  • Conduct data analysis to identify trends. Develop corrective and preventative actions
  • Responsible and obligated to identify, report, and take immediate appropriate action on all unsafe acts and behaviors. Lead the closure of the identified safety opportunity escalating where required
  • Execute employee engagement initiatives that foster a growing safety culture
  • Coordinate all Fire Prevention and property risk management programs coordinating with FM Global. This includes all required training, recordkeeping, monitoring and reporting programs and results
  • Develop and maintain credibility with customers and local regulatory authorities

Are you qualified?

  • Associates Degree (safety, industrial hygiene, environmental, chemical engineering) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience managing an EHS program
  • Credible professional certifications are preferred (for example, CSP Certified Safety Professional, CIH Certified Industrial Hygienist).
  • Demonstrated experience managing site to conformance to ISO 14001 Health, Safety preferred
  • RCRA – Hazardous Waste Management Training and basic experience as well as DOT – Hazmat Ground Shipper Certification Training (or ability to achieve) preferred
  • Solid understanding of Continuous Improvement Methods including but not limited to Lean, 5S, and Kaizens preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
