Hexcel is currently seeking a EHS Engineer for our Decatur, AL, USA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Support and assist implementation, facilitation, and management of safety and environmental programs to ensure a safe, accident-free workplace for employees and compliance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain visibility on the manufacturing floor, interfacing with employees in identifying hazards and implementing practices to reduce those hazards.
- Ability to learn and facilitate monitoring and inspection requirements for Safety documentation, Process Safety Management (PSM), Leak Detection & Repair (LDAR), Waste Management, Stormwater and Spill Control & Countermeasure inspections.
- Work with EHS department on waste minimization and plant usage of natural resources, including water, natural gas, and electricity.
- Work with site personnel and contractors for confined space entry, lock out/tag out, control of hazardous energy, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, audiometric testing, and respiratory protection (fit testing).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in EHS field of study; or related discipline.
- EHS experience in manufacturing or chemical industries; demonstrated experience in Industrial Hygiene is required, (intern experience is considered)
- Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, good written communication skills and have a team attitude in dealing with staff and be able to interface with employees daily.
- PC-based computing experience (word processing-Word, spreadsheet-Excel, maintenance management system, use of other pre-programmed databases) is required; experience using respirator (fit-test) software program is preferred
