What is Project Orion?
Project Orion is the Board approved project to build a new, light-house warehouse operation in Europe. It will be the biggest such project in the company for the last 20 years & the largest Distribution facility in Europe.
The Highly automated warehouse of around 55 000 m2, with a capacity of 55M units p.a will be a true pan-brand, Omni-channel warehouse that will deliver Apparel, Footwear & Accessories to Retail Stores, ECOM consumers and wholesale customers.
The Warehouse will be industry leading in sustainability, (LEED Platinum & WELL certified) and lives up to LS&Co’s commitment to a better future.

As the Leader of our Distribution Center Operations, you have responsibility for setting the strategic direction for the facility, integrating operations into the commercial strategy, and driving an inclusive culture based on continuous improvement and operational rigor. Build a new operation and organization that lives up to the promise of being a Levi’s Lighthouse project.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver all operational commitments required to achieve the commercial plan
- Create high levels of employee engagement that result in achieving maximum standards for production, quality, safety and positive employee / labor relations.
- Guide continuous process improvement culture using LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies in the areas of cost, service, and productivity while driving employee engagement.
- Work in partnership to ensure inventory is available and product is shipped to customer specifications.
- Guide programs to build working relationships with labour agencies, works councils, leadership to encourage a partnership resulting in a productive and adaptable working environment.
- Guide health and safety programs together with our health and safety experts to enhance associate well-being and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and manage annual budget to include capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor costs, while actively monitoring performance throughout the year.
- Hire, develop and manage the management team and first level supervisors to create a succession plan in the Facility. Leader will engage in development plans for all direct reports, ensuring team is consistently elevating leadership skills and technical capabilities.
- Manage “indirect” reports as a crucial part of the facilities success
- Manage and guide overall performance of direct reports through leadership and development.
- Establish partnerships with teams across the company to ensure that customer service goals are met.
- Encourages a positive work environment in which management team drives results and associates feel valued.
- Drive and live Sustainability initiatives
Ideal candidate profile:
- Min. 10 years' experience in a Distribution Operations, integration of pure warehouse operations with planning, customer service, transportation, logistics etc.
- Able to back up suggestions with practical hands-on experience in an operational environment and knowledge of technology used in a warehouse.
- Excellent problem-solving ability (ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems).
- Excellent communication skills in the new world of remote & on-line working and highly collaborative with the ability to influence across the matrix and to build connections to enable success.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work with a wide range of individuals and hierarchical chains in an international environment.
- Languages: Native German speaker, very good written & spoken English
- Based in the region of Dorsten.
