Midwest Paratransit Services
Dispatcher coordinates drivers for pick-up and delivery in a safe, efficient, and timely manner from the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm Saturday-Sunday.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Supervise drivers on routes at corresponding locations
- Check in drivers for Fit for Duty
- Schedules passengers for pick-up and delivery; selects the most efficient routes for each driver.
- Oversees route availability; assigns passengers to ensure accuracy.
- Anticipates weather/complications along routes and at the drivers’ destinations; communicates delays and route changes as necessary.
- Maintains phone/radio contact with drivers; receives and dispatches response
- Coordinates trips in Trapeze/Ecolane and makes real-time adjustments in the system
- Reports all accidents to Risk & Safety Officer with immediacy.
- Answer calls from clients and help meet the needs requested
- Provides customer service to passengers with complaints or concerns
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional phone demeanor; professional, respectful, clear, and concise.
- Ability to learn new computer programs/software; excellent computer skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills to ensure drivers’ compliance with direction and assignments.
- Basic understanding of geographical areas and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.
- Proficient with or able to quickly learn dispatch and Call Center systems.
- Ability to work at a fast pace and under pressure.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
