JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Implement the District’s policy on residency; conduct all necessary inquiries and investigations to determine pertinent facts relating thereto. Manage security department. Serve as District’s Safety Coordinator as required by Missouri School Improvement Program (MSIP). Report to and support the Executive Director of Safety and Security, who is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet and trusted advisor to the Superintendent.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

  • This position is responsible for assisting in the management of all aspects of security operations for the District.
  • Security operations include responding to criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, hazardous incidents, potentially violent incidents, auto accidents, and others.
  • Position works with the District Administration to ensure that situations are appropriately addressed and expectations for security and personal safety are achieved.
  • Duties include planning, supervising, and coordinating security operations on a 24-hour basis; investigating and reporting on all security issues leading and participating in the provision of security services such as supervising, monitoring, training and assessing the performance of security staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have prior management and law enforcement experience.
  • Must be experienced and/or trained in adult and juvenile law and have qualifications for holding a private security license with the attending arrest powers.
  • Must have the ability to meet the public under various types of situations in a professional manner and be firm, fair, and consistent.
  • Must be able to manage confrontational situations.
  • Must be able to work for extended periods beyond typical office hours including weekends and evenings.
  • Must have the ability to deal with concepts and complexity comfortably; learn and decipher new knowledge; assimilate new skills independently.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist with managing all aspects of day-to-day safety and security activities in accordance with the district’s mission and vision.
  • Respond to emergency situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, lock-downs, alarms, etc.) for the purpose of taking appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and security concerns.
  • Assists in preparation of emergency management and contingency planning.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of stakeholders (e.g. parents, law enforcement agencies, safety personnel, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and making recommendations.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Safety and Security with the management of department personnel (e.g. schedule work and event assignments, be involved in the recruitment and hiring and the annual evaluation process, maintain training updates, approval of timesheets, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and ensuring a safe and secure district.
  • Prepare written documents (e.g. incident reports, activity logs, personnel reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
  • Implement the District’s policy and procedure on residency checks, coordinating the necessary inquiries and investigations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to 365 day work calendar; 8 hours per day vary; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
