As a key member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President of Operations reports directly to the President & CEO and is responsible for ensuring and improving the service performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of the operations team at Chesapeake Controls. We are seeking a candidate who has a passion for growing and developing talent and innovative business solutions in the building automation technology, HVAC construction and service industry.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the operations departments including construction, engineering, service, safety, fleet, warehouse and operation admin.
- Oversee monthly WIP (Work in Progress) schedules and calculations,
- Oversee monthly manpower forecasts
- Budget Planning: scheduling, billings and forecasting
- Directly involved in managing job cost analysis on all projects to ensure consistent profitability and identify and make improvements where needed
- Direct and coordinate the establishment of budget, job costing, and standardized pricing programs to meet profitability goals.
- Responsible for the successful performance of the engineering and construction process including project pre-planning, scheduling, project management, field installation, subcontracted work & project close-out.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to foster an exchange of ideas and provide cross-team collaboration and learning opportunities.
- Drive functional learning and company training programs relevant to trade skills and overall growth and development of staff
- Oversee and monitor purchasing activities of raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies.
- Provide oversight of contract agreements with customers and subcontractors
- Identify and establish key performance indicators for operations as well as deliver report on performance to measure against
- Optimization of customer satisfaction/loyalty through improved operations
- Increase relations with suppliers to improve efficiency on all projects
- Identify and mentor potential leaders
Qualifications
- Bachelor s Degree in Construction Management, Business Management/Entrepreneurship, or related degree preferred not required.
- 10+ years of business experience within the HVAC Building Automation and Construction Industry
- 5+ years managing people and building teams.
- 5+ years managing budgets, forecasting models and overall financials
- Excellent technical skills with an emphasis on MS Excel
- Prior Experience with large commercial construction projects
- Proven ability to gain trust and maintain a collaborative and supportive leadership presence throughout all parts of the organization.
- Prior experience supporting recruitment, hiring, and onboarding efforts as appropriate to develop an exceptional team.
- Foster a collaborative culture that enhances employee satisfaction, engagement, and results-orientation while encouraging innovation and creativity.
- Provide time for regular and effective 1 on 1 meetings with all direct reports.
