Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Marketing & Communications leads and manages brand strategy and development, all internal and external public relations, and corporate and consumer marketing communications programs for Alivia Care, Inc., Community Hospice & Palliative Care and all subsidiaries, affiliates and joint ventures. Ensures alignment of organizational messaging and brand integration across all marketing communications initiatives. Responsibilities include brand and communications strategy development, media relations, advertising and digital marketing initiatives, external communications development and production and internal communication initiatives in support of executive leadership and other internal clients. Serves as an internal communications consultant to line management and members of the organization's executive leadership team.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Marketing & Communications Department including staff productivity, performance and supervision, and the development and management of department budget.
- Works directly with the Chief Operating Officer to develop and implement annual strategic corporate brand management and communications plans.
- Develops consumer marketing strategies to support organizational mission/marketing goals.
- Coordinates marketing activities with Business Development
- Develops and maintains corporate brand strategy, positioning and guidelines, and educates staff and appropriate partners, as needed
- Ensures that organizational philosophy, mission and vision are reinforced through communication initiatives.
- Develops and maintains a strong internal communications plan, including production of the organizational e-newsletter and news updates, annual employee meeting, new employee orientation and other programs as needed to “connect” all staff.
- Manages all media relations activities; works with staff to identify media opportunities, pitch to media, and prepare press kits and releases
- Serves as agency spokesperson as needed.
- Develops and maintains print, outdoor and broadcast/electronic advertising plans and strategies.
- Manages the development and distribution of corporate, employee and consumer collateral, including the annual community report and patient education materials.
- Develops and manages the company’s overall digital marketing presence to include the website and social media programs, in conjunction with other key stakeholders.
- Oversees and directs special events hosted by the organization, including but not limited to ground-breaking ceremonies and ribbon cuttings.
- Assists in the development and dissemination of key organizational messaging, and preparation of presentations and communications to support current and future strategies.
- Assists in supporting organizational public policy and advocacy efforts through media relations, and the coordination of communications with state and federal legislators.
- Serves on various internal planning and management committees as appropriate, including the Comprehensive Emergency Management Team.
- Coordinates communications of all crisis management situations, including the development and maintenance of a Crisis Communications Plan.
- Serves as a speaker and/or presenter at public functions, as necessary.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and professional experience that would provide the required skills and knowledge for successful performance in this position would be acceptable. Key qualifications include:
Experience/Education:
- 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in marketing communications, brand development and/or public relations; healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of management- level experience including staff and budget planning/budget management experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Management or a related field; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
Skilled at:
- Developing and implementing strategic corporate and consumer communication programs, including crisis management
- Managing internal and external communications for an organization with a distributed employee population
- Creative project management including design, copy-writing, photography, media buying, etc.
- Managing multiple programs/projects simultaneously, being both hands-on and strategic
- Advanced public relations strategies and techniques
- Managing effective intranet and internet sites, and familiarity with technical aspects of electronic communications.
- Developing, implementing and maintaining online/social media presence and communications
- Communicating and promoting an organization's mission and vision both internally and externally
- Managing external vendors
- Using customer relationship management (CRM) software a plus.
