Role Overview:
The Director of Franchise Development is an integral part of the franchise development organization who works to drive new unit growth and related initiatives across individual franchise brands existing within Empower’s portfolio of franchise brands. More specifically, the Director of Franchise Development is responsible for working closely with organic and broker-referred franchise candidate leads, educating each on the brand’s market, model, management and motivation and progressing qualified candidates through the franchise sales funnel to achieve new unit growth targets. This role will require a deep understanding of the industry in which the brand operates, as well as an ability build strong internal and external relationships, and create compelling value propositions for joining the Empower Brands family.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding of high quality and financially capable franchise candidates that will help grow the brand in the United States.
  • Aggressively drive the execution of new unit franchise agreements to ensure the brand’s pipeline is robust and positioned to support our brand-specific growth targets
  • Build strong relationships with existing franchise owners and spearhead growth discussions and hold them accountable to commitments
  • Provide market intelligence and insights on our brands’ competitors
  • Partner with our brand presidents and brand team members to achieve alignment on unit growth strategies, tactics and continuous improvement
  • Work with brand and departmental leadership, and the internal marketing team, to develop, deploy, assess, modify the annual unit growth strategy to ensure goal achievement is exceeded
  • Report to leadership all relevant data associated with KPIs aligned to unit growth performance
  • Build strong relationships and rapport with broker network representatives and attend related events to ensure the brand remains top-of-mind within the broker network community.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or a relevant field of work
  • 5+ years’ franchise development experience, preferably in a matrixed, multi-branded organization
  • Ability to develop, analyze and negotiate leases and LOIs
  • Experience in organic and broker-related lead generation tactics
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and communicate at a high level across multiple functions
  • Experience in strategic planning of sales data analysis
  • This position will work closely with brand leadership, their teams and portfolio leadership
  • Should show a strong understanding of the overall development process
  • Ability to travel approximately 40%
