Director of Content
Seeking Experienced Healthcare/Biopharma Content Professional for High-Growth Position
emagineHealth, the Digital-First Marketing and Communications Agency for Healthcare and Biopharma, is seeking an experienced Content leader to drive our agency’s growth in the areas of Content Marketing and Copywriting. Content has been identified as one of our agency’s strongest opportunities for growth - so this is not just a heads-down writing position, but a leadership position integral to the growth of our Content service line.
In this Director role, you will help define the agency’s Content offerings, collaborate with our account and business development teams to identify and present Content growth opportunities among our clients and prospects, and oversee the creation of all client Content. You will be our agency’s resident Content thought leader and impart your expertise on various members of our team including Creative, UX, SEO, Paid Media, Account/Project Management and Business Development.
You will be responsible for our Content division’s growth, margins and profitability. When needed, you will drive the hiring strategy for the division and collaborate with our Talent Engagement Manager to find, screen and hire new team members.
You will directly manage/create Content for clients (especially in the initial stages) and manage a small group of freelance writers.

Responsibilities:
- Work with our President and EVP of Operations to build and lead a team of talented Content professionals as growth dictates. You are not only capable of creating robust Content strategies but also guiding members of a team in the creation of these strategies
- Manage the day-to-day operation of the Content team (as it grows) and steer the direction of the Content team to meet the goals set forth by the CEO, President and EVP of Operations
- Be a Content Strategy expert up-to-date with the latest trends and Content strategies
- Work directly with clients on the creation, implementation, and management of complex Content strategies
- Be savvy, polished, and proficient in the areas of Content strategy, copywriting, digital marketing strategy (SEO, Social, Paid, etc.), team building and leadership - in addition to being knowledgeable about healthcare and biopharma, recognizing that staying apprised of various sector trends will be beneficial to innovating on new strategies for clients
- Collaborate with our President, Business Development and Creative teams in uncovering Content opportunities for both existing and prospective clients – as well as others who could be instrumental in developing and pitching new Content offerings (UX Director, SEO, Social, Paid teams, etc.)
- Innovate and help define new Content offerings
- Collaborate on proposals, pitch decks, sales materials
- Examine existing and prospective client websites (and/or other materials) and uncover Content opportunities
- Turn those Content opportunities into creative pitches (in conjunction with our Creative team) to create excitement and justify the ideas to the clients
- Lead and participate in sales presentations, oftentimes with deep-dive and competitive analysis being presented
- Collaborate with and provide spec copy to creative team for mockups and ideation for prospective clients
- Work closely with SEO team to learn and adapt to SEO techniques as they pertain to Content creation
- Create a process for and conduct Content Audits - for websites and other materials
- Learn and innovate on the rapid proliferation of AI/ChatGPT with regard to Content creation
- Perform competitive research and investigation
- Be positioned as our agency’s Content thought leader - contributing to our own Content creation about Content strategy: thought leadership ebooks, blog posts, social media, videos, podcast participation, etc.
- Explore audience personas and buyer journeys
- Be open (and eager) to learning new Content techniques
- Adhere to industry best practices
Requirements:
- Highly collaborative, creative and able to ideate. This is not just a heads-down copywriting position. You will be collaborating frequently with Creative, Account and Business Development teams in uncovering and presenting Content ideas to both existing and prospecting clients, oftentimes with little (or no) background or direction from the client
- Extensive experience (5 years+) in Content Strategy and Copywriting for healthcare and biopharma
- Eloquent and comfortable presenting strategies to internal and external audiences (primarily on Zoom video calls)
- Occasional travel might be required if the opportunity dictates (possibly 3-4 times per year)
- Knowledge of various forms of copywriting: websites, blogs/SEO, email, social media, advertising copy, headline creation, print materials
- Experience managing, mentoring, training and educating copywriters - both internal and external
- Entrepreneurial/growth-centric mindset
- Innovative spirit - never complacent or settling for the status quo
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced agency environment where the following are the norm: constant innovation, change, growth, adapting to a wide variety of clients’ businesses and objectives, and generating ideas without always having the benefit of input from a prospective or existing client
- Willing and able to think on your feet and pivot quickly. Agency and client needs evolve rapidly and you will be accustomed to switching gears seamlessly
