Director of Advising and Online Student Success
Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director, Online Education, the Director will lead the initiatives to assure online students have pathways and support mechanisms in place for successful completion of their programs of study. A successful person in this position be responsible to help guide and develop processes for offering support, guidance, and encouragement to get to the finish line, as well as lead and train others to do the same. The person in this position will be part of a mission-driven organization and have the ability to make life-changing differences in many lives.
Job responsibilities:
- Assure appropriate onboarding, advising, and first-time registration of new students throughonline orientation; individual meetings, and virtual engagement events.
- Follow up and engagement with continuing students to ensure timely registration each semester.
- Monitor progress in classes to identify and offer support solutions as needed.
- Lead and train a student success team for the online programs.
- Advise incoming students regarding their degree pathways and ongoing enrollments.
- Build strong relationships with students to provide clarity, leverage confidence, and galvanize success for the student’s re-enrollment and degree completion experience.
- Collaborate with faculty to support and engage students outside of course work.
- Co-create specific plans with students to connect their future goals with daily action, overcome obstacles, and achieve their academic, personal and professional goals.
- Connect with students via phone calls, email, text, or other technology tools.
- Initiate outreach, create, and establish relationships with students proactively
- Collaborate with staff and university administrators to overcome barriers for student’s progress and provide positive experiences.
- Participate in internal meetings and coordinate training sessions as the team grows.
- Empower students to work through challenges from their time exploring re-enrollment through graduation.
- Monitor and document student progress each term.
Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree; 24 months experience in higher education, preferably with a focus on student success/student affairs.
Ability to use SIS (Slate and Colleague); Microsoft; Excel; and Blackboard.
