Summary:
The Director, Conferences and Events will be responsible for advancing the mission, values, and brand of the Society by developing and growing AMDA’s online and in-person conference and event capabilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- With a principal focus on digital/online methods and vehicles, define the best solutions for delivering AMDA’s education initiatives.
- Plan and implement a successful annual conference and trade show, and other in-person events, each year.
- Work with the Business Development Director to identify opportunities to support AMDA’s existing and future programs and products.
Education:
College Degree
- 4-year college degree in a related field required.
- Master’s degree in business, hospitality, or nonprofit management preferred
Additional Credentials
- CMP certification preferred
Essential Duties:
Responsibilities:
30% - With a principal focus on digital/ online methods and vehicles, define the best solutions for delivering AMDA’s education initiatives.
- Define and lead best solutions for educational content (e.g., media sharing platforms, social media platforms, knowledge-based platforms, and/or service-based platforms.
- Execute webinars and other digital products.
- Coordinate the LMS with the Clinical Affairs/Education team.
- Maintain a current awareness of advancements in digital learning technologies and approaches; adopt such new methods as appropriate to enhance AMDA’s learner experience.
55% - Plan and implement a successful annual conference and trade show, and other in-person events, each year.
- Oversee the program planning committee to plan the annual meeting program.
- Implement a successful annual conference each year:
- Develop pricing models and accurate annual budget projections and metrics for registration, attendance, and exhibits and sponsors.
- Work with Membership, Marketing and Communications to provide marketing support to promote annual conference registration, exhibits and sponsors.
- Work closely with the marketing team to promote attendance, develop industry packages for advertisement, and exhibit and sponsorship opportunities to vendors.
- Provide up to date information for the conference website.
- Work with Exhibits and Sponsorships Manager to manage exhibit and sponsorship fulfilment.
- Coordinate and oversee preparation of the annual conference exhibitor prospectus.
- Develop and execute exhibit and sponsorship program operations.
- Engage in program improvement:
- Compile and conduct conference evaluation process
- Oversee the exhibits and sponsorship advisory committee.
- Test and implement improvements based on feedback from attendees, exhibitors, and sponsors.
10% - Work with the Business Development Director to identify opportunities to support AMDA’s existing and future programs and products
- Cultivate and grow existing and new industry partnerships for sponsorship participation for both in-person and digital events
- Work with internal stakeholders to develop new and innovative corporate support and product development initiatives.
- Create new exhibit, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities. Work with relevant AMDA staff to execute agreements.
- Build relationships with key conference and event partners through proactive engagement.
5% - Other duties
- Other related duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in conference planning and execution, including exhibit, sponsorship and advertising sales and management.
- Strong digital product and platform logistical expertise.
- Detail oriented with excellent analytical, communication, time management, project coordination and organization skills.
- Proactive self-starter, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Enjoys taking on new projects and growing existing ones.

Additional Information:
- Travel to conferences, events and staff meetings required. (10 -25%)
- Ability to sit, walk and stand for long periods of time.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
