We are currently hiring Direct Support Professionals for $15-18 per hour, with an abundance of overtime hours available. We are a values-driven team of premier caregivers who make a difference in the lives of children and young adults with mental disabilities. We have 22 sites around the St. Louis City, North County and St. Charles area, and over 250 staff members who are working diligently to assist and empower our clients 24/7. Many of our clients have challenging behaviors.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a background check with NO FELONIES
  • No prior experience in the field required. Individuals with license/insurance qualify for higher end of pay scale. Those with experience may qualify for the higher end of the pay scale.
  • Ability to work in teams while maintaining a positive and solution focused attitude
  • Desire to continuously learn and develop skillsets
  • Demonstrate examples of living our core values of kindness, accountability, urgency and integrity
  • Be community oriented and driven to do things for the betterment of our internal community
  • Willingness to work in an ISL home environment
  • English proficiency, both verbal and written, is required
  • Be able to lift up to 30 lbs


Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision of children or young adults with mental disabilities at all times (defined as being within arms-reach at all times)
  • Assisting the client with household chores, including food preparation and assuring a clean home and environment
  • Administration of daily medications
  • Documentation of daily tasks and goals
  • Transportation as appropriate for licensed drivers (including doctors appointments and social outings)
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, families and colleagues
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, families and colleagues
  • Maintain accurate, timely, HIPAA compliant records at all times
  • Move frequently throughout the therapeutic setting to gather materials, anticipate and respond to the movement of a patient, and/or provide instruction in a variety of settings, such as home, community settings and medical appointments
  • Constantly position oneself to participate and respond to the movements and behaviors of patients, including but not limited to bending to assist a patient, kneeling/crouching to teach a play skill, hurrying to block an open doorway, or reaching to prevent a patient from entering a traffic congested street
  • Occasionally move to evade aggressive behaviors and/or physically block attempts to aggress towards others

Schedule: Flexible scheduling is offered

    • Day shifts (7A-7P) OR overnight shifts (7P-7A)
    • Employees work longer shifts, only 3-4 days per week
    • Schedules are set at the start of employment
