Diet Aide/Nutrition Aide (PT, Variable shifts)

Primary Function: Under the supervision of the Nutritional Care Manager, is responsible for diet orders, menus, resident visits, trayline, Cardex and Health Center Chart, and discharge procedure. Assists with sanitation in the Health Center.

Qualifications: Basic knowledge of nutrition. Basic knowledge of proper dining room service, sanitation, and safety procedures. Possesses the ability to follow instruction, work well with others, and maintains a good rapport with residents. Possesses the ability to cope with the needs of older person i.e., physical handicap and/or varying degrees of disorientation. Has latitude to cope with some problems. Refers unusual problems to Duty Manager.

Responsibilities:
1. Collects diet order. Distributes, collects and tallies resident menus.
2. Visits residents. Updates Diet Cardex.
3. Maintain Cardex and Health Center seating chart, and supplemental/snack list.
4. Assists with Quality Assurance audits and Test Tray monitoring.
5. Responsible for tray line service and accuracy.
6. Ensures that nutritional adequacy is provided to each resident by following established procedures and giving appropriate feedback to Nutritional Care Manager.
