Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Plant Operations Manager, this position performs frontline supervisory functions and is responsible for safety, corrective action, associate relations, housekeeping, and performance reviews for assigned shift. This position will have multiple direct reports in the various areas of the die cast department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Hands-on position requires the production of quality die castings that meet customer specifications and run within set control limits
  • Carry out such duties as the Operations Manager – Production may specify
  • Verify setups per process sheets on a daily basis within the first hour of shift
  • Work with the Quality Department to have the authority to stop processes at die cast or trim, when not in control and excessive scrap is produced
  • Delegate and supervise the work of all employees in the die cast department
  • Attend and participate in daily production meetings
  • Instruct new employees on safe work habits
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area
  • Observe all Boyd safety and OSHA guidelines and procedures
  • Any other duties as assigned
  • Must support and follow the QMS requirements

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of five years die cast experience
  • Ability to communicate with employees on a professional level at all times
  • Accurate understanding of casting defects and customer requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Basic reasoning skills and language skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business paperwork. Ability to complete shop paperwork. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions/requests from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or touch tools, equipment, and/or controls. This employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities are required for this job and include close and distance vision, color, and peripheral vision, and the ability to focus.
