Development Coordinator

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Philanthropy, the Development Coordinator is responsible for providing day-to-day administrative support of FPHNYC’s individual, philanthropy, and public fundraising efforts, providing data entry, correspondence preparation, agendas, scheduling, meeting minutes, spreadsheets, materials, and reports, and general administrative support

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the collection, summarizing, and recording of grant outcome accomplishments
  • Maintain Salesforce development database to facilitate tracking, reporting and follow-up with funders and donors
  • Prepare proposal materials, independently or as part of a team, and shepherd proposal application processes to completion
  • Conduct prospect research on program areas as assigned
  • Research and maintain files on institutional and individual funding prospects
  • Research and monitor grant opportunities announced by public and private sectors
  • Prepare acknowledgment letters and track payment/check receipt in Salesforce
  • Monitor compliance and prepare materials for state charity registration
  • Create briefing materials for senior staff and Health Department leaders for meetings with funders and events
  • Support department reporting including preparation of board meeting materials, monthly and annual reporting to city institutions, briefings for the CEO and CDO’s meetings with Health Department leadership
  • Support monitoring, tracking, and verifying of Development team invoicing
  • Support events such as Funders Briefings
  • Perform any other department duties or special projects as needed
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree
  • Minimum of two years experience in administrative role, preferable in fundraising
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills - able to form positive working relationships, be adaptable and maintain a positive attitude to form positive working relationships, be adaptable and maintain a positive attitude
  • Strong writing skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and eye for accuracy
  • Excellent research skills
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
  • Basic proficiency with Salesforce
  • Proactive self-starter, comfortable juggling multiple projects and prioritizing requests/ needs of the team.
  • Ability to address and prioritize multiple projects
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team

SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Salary range is $55,000 to $65,000

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
