What does a great Critical Facility Tech do?

The Data Center Engineers primary responsibility is to assist in maintaining continuous up-time of the Data Center. This is accomplished by monitoring critical Data Center support systems and responding to alarms caused by faults and failures. Assisting and monitoring preventive maintenance of critical support equipment.

In this role you can look forward to:

  • Monitor critical Data Center systems by using the automated Building Management System (BMS)

  • Visual inspections and readings of equipment and systems

  • Respond to alarm, faults, and failures

  • Respond to alarms on critical systems throughout the facility

  • Trouble shoot and take necessary actions to maintain critical Data Center systems

  • Contact appropriate vendor and/or contractors to respond

  • Perform testing on equipment and systems

  • Complete tasks as part of a preventive maintenance schedule

  • Support maintenance tasks performed by vendors

  • Maintain Engineering and Equipment logs

  • Record Engineers report as needed

  • Preventive maintenance logs

  • Follow proper escalation procedures

  • Maintain safe work environments

  • Monitor actions of cleaning contractors

  • Clean all critical equipment as needed or as part of preventive maintenance

  • Pager to be carried at all times other than vacation or scheduled days off

What you will need to have:

  • Must be able to work any shift as part of the 7x24 building coverage

  • Overtime to be worked as required

  • Ability to walk throughout a large campus and/or building

  • Ability to stand for extended time

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and climb work ladders and stairs, while operating tools/machinery

  • Experience in one of the following: Electrical and/or mechanical, Large generator systems, UPS systems operation, Power distribution, Mechanical plant operations

  • High school diploma

  • Able to use basic hand tools and electrical and mechanical test equipment

  • Read and interpret blue prints and technical material

Would be nice to have:

  • Trade school or associates degree

  • College and/or continuing education

  • Experience overseeing the work vendors and contractors would perform in the Data Center and Central Plant.
