Provide department leadership with reliable data from trusted source systems that will empower and influence key decision making. Access and integrate data for reporting to establish data standards, quality and reliability.

This position is located in Salt Lake City, UT and works in the Purchasing Division under the Materials Management Department.

The Data Analyst will work with data coming from multiple systems to integrate both structured and unstructured data for the creation and interpretation of dashboards and reporting. The person must be knowledgeable and have an understanding of the data lifecycle and the data relationships between various systems that allow integration. The Analyst will also perform both ad hoc analysis and interpretation.

• Work and communicate well with internal customers.

Work closely with internal customers to clearly identify and define their desired outputs from the Analyst’s reporting and analysis.

• Understand the Data

Define what the data is, where it is coming from, how it will be captured, and how it will be consumed.

• Data Quality Assessment

Work with data engineers on validation of data quality including sources, reliability, completeness, validity, and uniqueness.

• Organize the Data

Address accessibility, usability, field definition and use, and statistical validity,

• Reporting

Using business requirements to tell the story, developing dashboards and reports that are actionable and measurable.

• Security & User Acceptance

Be able to communicate with audiences on such topics as access to data, viewing and interpreting data, communications, and instruction on data use

Education and Work Experience:

BS/BA Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field with minimum 4 years performing multiple system data validation, quality assessments, and configuration of reports and standardized dashboards

Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge and skill in Business Objects and Tableau
• Writing of queries, and reports, using R and SQL
• Seeing and understanding the story data tells
• Presentation and data storytelling
• Works with minimal to moderate oversight and meets established deadlines
• Delivers defined projects with regular oversight
• Problem solving, debugging/troubleshooting and the designing and implementation of solutions to complex technical issues
