Department
Building Services is committed to enhancing and maintaining all academic, administrative, and other buildings assigned to provide clean, safe, and sanitary conditions.
In addition, Special Projects provides an all-inclusive relocation and carpet cleaning program. Relocation strives to provide professional in-house moves and special event setups of tables and chairs, as well as, box order for all E&G funded buildings throughout campus. Building Services charge a small fee for all special events and box orders.
We strive to provide the most efficient, versatile, timely, and economic Custodial Service program possible. Coordination of all professional services is provided with University deans, directors, and department heads.
We establish priorities with the institution and specific standards, either detailed or generalized, for maximum flexibility.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the daily supervision of custodial workers in the assigned building(s). Additional responsibilities include:
- Supervises and oversees employees' performance of routine custodial services and special cleaning projects. Plans, schedules, and prioritizes custodial work activities. Inspects completed work. Ensures adherence to established work standards and safe work practices.
- Performs routine custodial duties and special cleaning projects. Duties include dusting, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, disposing of trash, sweeping, etc.
- Serves as liaison between custodial staff and other staff and faculty members. Works closely and communicates with building occupants to ensure that custodial work does not disrupt operations. Provides quality customer service and promotes a positive working relationship between custodial staff and customers.
- Responsible for inventory control of custodial supplies and equipment. Issues supplies and equipment and ensures proper use. Inspects equipment and ensures proper maintenance and daily cleaning of carts, vacuums, floor machines, etc.
- Initiates work orders for carpet cleaning, maintenance, repairs, pest control, and other services that cannot be performed by custodial staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalency and two years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to two years. Relevant training may substitute for experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively train and direct the work of others.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
- Ability to train and supervise employees.
- Knowledge of and ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment and materials used in area of work.

Anticipated Salary Range
The minimum salary for this position is $36,250.
