Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Radiology Assistant assists technologists in the care of patients for imaging both prior to and after testing. The Radiology Assistant also helps with transferring/transporting and observing patients. Collects and presents information from PACS and/or O2 regarding patient, exam and works to ensure patients are imaged in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists in processing digital images, as well as cleaning equipment when needed or of applicable.
  • Assists technologist with the education of patients, patient families, and nursing units regarding radiology procedures.
  • Assists technologists with non-patient activities and other tasks that contribute to the patient’s care. Answers telephone in a timely and courteous fashion, identifying oneself and the department. Confirms and screens patient for appointments, if applicable.
  • Attends to patient’s comfort during transport or during their test.
  • Interacts with physicians and other technical staff to provide quality, safe, efficient care for the patient.
  • Maintains a patient-centered focus and strives to support the mission, goals and values of the hospital, department and division.
  • Performs daily work assignments in an efficient, organized manner and with accuracy.
  • Promptly reports equipment malfunctions, when known.
  • Provides constant patient observation while in immediate care area. Identifies patient care needs and notifies nursing, resident or physician if assistance is needed.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • BLS and/or RQI certified
  • Ability to use computer systems, retrieving data when necessary
Preferred:
  • 3-6 months experience with caring for acute, ED, or long-term care patients
  • Experience as an MA, EMT, LPN
