Carlow University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the
Criminology Program at the Rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the Department of Psychology, Counseling, and Criminology. This is a nine-month, full-time, tenure track academic appointment to begin in the Fall 2023. Applicants with expertise in the areas relevant to introductory courses in criminal justice and criminology, field coordination of undergraduate internships, and expertise in research methods, white collar crime, cyber-crime, victimology, criminal law, and/or juvenile justice will be strongly considered.
Responsibilities include teaching criminal justice and criminology courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, academic advising, and collaboration with faculty and students to develop/advance a scholarship agenda. Carlow prizes excellence in teaching, but also values scholarly pursuits, including interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as active service to the college, university, and community.
Successful candidates must be committed to envisioning the future of liberal arts education in a rapidly changing environment; have experience working with diverse populations; have a demonstrated ability to engage students in issues of race and equity; and be able to articulate how they will contribute to Carlow University’s Catholic, Mercy mission and values through their teaching, scholarship, and service.

Qualifications
- PhD in Criminology or Criminal Justice (applicants completing their dissertation in 2023 will be considered with verification of dissertation status).
- Experience teaching at the college/university level.
- Comfort in teaching both on ground and asynchronous online classes.
- Technological proficiency in a digital learning environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Dedication to undergraduate training
- Interest in engaging with the community to develop and maintain practica sites for students in a wide variety of psychology subfields.
- Career goals that include program level leadership in the college environment
Assistant vs. Associate designation will be based on current years of teaching and administrative experiences in a Criminology/Criminal Justice program, as well as a determination of abilities to assume relatively immediate program leadership roles within the department.
