Position Summary:

Carboline is looking to hire a Corporate Logistics and Transportation Manager to oversee the strategy, planning, directing and coordination of all activities related to transportation and logistics. Based out of our Headquarters office in St. Louis, MO, this position will lead a transportation team tasked with handling domestic and/or International logistics request to meet customer needs as efficiently as possible while minimizing costs. This position will work cross functionally to influence, lead, develop, and execute strategic supply chain initiatives that are designed to drive growth, operational efficiencies, reduce inventories and improve service.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong leadership with prior management experience, must be eager to identify and recommend opportunities for improvement and must understand the importance of meetings customer needs. This position will interact with multiple internal and external departments where strong communication skills are a must!

Candidates with prior experience managing logistic and transportation functions within the manufacturing industry are a plus!

Requirements:

• 4 year Business degree or equivalent experience

• 5-10 years Logistics and Transportation experience

• 3-5 years Supervisory experience

Essential Functions:

• Ascertains corporate transportation requirements. Negotiates terms and contracts with carriers.

• Meets with carriers regularly to stay abreast of industry.

• Maintains the Transportation Management System to ensure accurate routing and rating of shipments inbound and outbound.

• Coordinates freight payment related data input and reporting.

• Works with Sales in bidding to ensure freight-included pricing is effective. Oversees protection of the freight cost for life of project and the maintenance of freight quote files.

• Monitors and tracks service and damage experience with all carriers and resolves any associated problems.

• Oversees and arranges expedited shipments. Monitors for service and cost performance.

• Coordinates design and supply of bills of lading, insuring all legal and freight payment requirements are fulfilled.

• Insures compliance with regulations governing packaging and shipment of hazardous materials over the road, ocean and air.

• Trains shipping personnel in DOT regulations for shipping hazardous materials.

• Evaluates distribution patterns and recommends alternatives.

• Resolves billing discrepancies, on hand notices or freight claims that Accounting needs assistance on.

• Supports export transportation function.

• Coordinates/communicates with Customer Service and shipping personnel to meet customer requirements.

• Handles other projects as necessary.

• Supervises Import/Export Specialist and Transportation Assistant, and Logistics Coordinator.

• Prepares transportation related budgets.
