- Wide ranging responsibilities are required across the board - from writing press releases to drafting messaging and speaking points to assuring concerns from the community are being addressed.
- Working in tandem with the Marketing and Communications staff, the specialist works with subject matter experts to provide contributed articles for industry publications. Representing the company as a spokesperson/point of contact, they interact with and respond to the media covering the company. The specialist creates print and electronic content, including video, to support the company’s business initiatives and core values. The work is challenging and requires an understanding of the various business groups and divisions, and the person must be adaptable to change.
- Journalism background and experience with community groups and public affairs is essential for performance of duty. The specialist is, from time to time, required to take a leadership role. Strong and abundant writing is required and strong relationships with the media, professional and community organizations are leveraged for company.
- Has solid skills in researching, writing, producing, and editing articles, still photography, video and marketing scripts and recording. Uses keen understanding of video production terminology, standards, and methods to set up schedules, produce content, productions, and deliverables for specific deadlines. Adept at scripting, shooting, editing, and producing videos.
- Coaches’ engineers with talking points for media interviews, public presentations including PowerPoint, and project pursuit interviews. Strong attention to detail with AP style knowledge and experience writing, editing, and proofreading for internal and external communications vehicles. Able to handle multiple tasks, deadlines, and work in difficult pressure situations. Coordinates and travels to oversee media interviews, visit project sites and provide communications support at LAN locations across the country.
- Supports local business development and attends meetings in the community representing the company. Develops client relationship, looks for company speaking opportunities and has a virtual rolodex of media contacts and a contact management system. Handles Tier 1 and Tier 2 media inquiries.
- Writes internal and external company-related stories and articles. Writes and distributes press releases, media responses, and statements and company news. Prepares designated company employee for media interviews. Establishes relationships with stakeholders affecting company objectives independently and as part of a team. Uses media monitoring services, press release distribution systems, and can translate complex technical information into easily understood concepts.
- Handles additional responsibilities as needed to deal with changing circumstances.
