Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Regional Manager of Prehospital Services, manages the daily operations of the assigned Prehospital Services Departments with assigned region. Oversees the successful delivery of quality patient care, service excellence, and patient experience. Provides direct patient care as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the daily operations of the assigned Prehospital Services Department(s), whether 911 Emergency or non-911 transport operations, within the assigned region.
- Manage the operations of the WellSpan Community Paramedicine program within the assigned region.
- Assist in maintaining established policies and procedures per agency and state regulations.
- Ensures that appropriate standards of care are developed and implemented based on Pennsylvania state protocols and WellSpan EMS polices.
- In conjunction with the Regional Manager, develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
- Provide EMS outreach to local EMS and Fire agencies as needed.
- Ensure the proper QA process is implemented and followed.
- Provides feedback and coaching to improve performance, promote accountability and support the healthy work environment.
- Uses Just Culture to resolve any performance issues or patient care concerns.
- Partners with the Manager to ensure appropriate orientation and competency of all staff to provide safe, competent care.
- Serves as a resource and positive role model/mentor to all staff.
- Support the Regional Manager with implementing contractual relationships with outside agencies including vendors and partnering relationships within the assigned region.
- Collaborates with the leadership team to identify and address operational problems and other barriers impeding care.
- Support the relationships with EMS educational organizations or academies as appropriate.
Qualifications
- Minimum Experience:
- 5-10 years of relevant experience
- Minimum Education:
- High School Degree or G.E.D.
- Preferred Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related medical field
- Required Certification:
- Certification as Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic in PA OR Pre-hospital RN Certification; BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications; Medical Command Authorization
- Required Courses:
- Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC); Emergency Medical Services Vehicle Operator (EMSVO); National Incident Management System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700, Hazardous Materials Awareness
- Physical Demands:
- Frequent prolonged standing/walking
- Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients
- Must be able to lift 60 pounds minimum in equipment (i.e., monitor and gear bags) Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
