Summary: The Control system/PLC Specialist is responsible for design, implementation and maintenance of Syzygy project PLC and DCS platforms. Design, implementation, troubleshooting support of plant control system problems, project management: budgeting, scheduling, contractors, bids, purchasing, and programming/automation projects,

Job Responsibilities:

  • Understand the process and control requirements working with different disciplines and come up with control strategies, Cause and Effect Matrix, control narratives.
  • Ability to work with P&ID development in association with process engineer, develop IO list, IO assignment, partitioning and control system implementation.
  • Hands on requirement to implement controls applications on PLC/DCS platforms.
  • Assist with Panel designs, electrical interfaces, communication protocols and HMI development.
  • Work with integrators for large scale project implementation, manage the budget, schedule and their quality of work.
  • Basic knowledge of process instrumentation including and not limited to pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, control valves, on off valves, pressure regulator etc
  • Participate in FAT, SAT and ensure the input/outputs are wired appropriately and participate in loop checks, functional tests.
  • Ability to change control logic and operator graphics as required during start up and on the running plant.
  • Participate in HAZOP, PHA evaluation and ensure process safety is not compromised in the control system.
  • Ensure the control system meets the codes and standards including NEC, ISA , NFPA
  • Support procurement, evaluate bids and negotiate cost with vendors.
  • Support electrical design associated with automation including UPS sizing, relay designs, MCC interfaces.
  • Provides proper training of supervisors and operators on the new and existing control systems.
  • Development of critical spare part listing for PLC and interface systems
  • Maintenance and administration of control related databases and programs
  • Works with support staff to assure project adherence to quality, safety and environmental standards that exceed the industry minimum

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Automation, Engineering or Chemical Engineering preferred
  • 5+ years controls experience in industrial automation
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus

  • Siemens S7-1500 TIA Portal – Must
  • Siemens WinCC – Must
  • Communication Profinet, Ethernet/Modbus - Must
  • Allen Bradley Compact logix, Control Logix , Factory Talk view- Preferred
  • DCS platform Emerson Delta V, Honeywell Experion, Historian platforms -Preferred
