CONTROLLER

St. Teresa’s Academy

The Academy is seeking an experienced Controller to work in the Finance Department of the Business Office. The Controller will be responsible for maintaining the financial records according to GAAP. This full-time position reports to the Chief Operating & Financial Officer.

St. Teresa’s Academy (STA) is a Catholic, accredited, college-preparatory high school. STA provides young women with a premier education that includes a rigorous academic curriculum and technology program, award-winning arts programs, and service and mission opportunities. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage general ledger, fixed assets, and payables/receivables activities
• Assist with management of endowment transactions
• Manage and reconcile tuition billing system
• Manage donation receipts and other deposits
• Oversee employee credit card system
• Manage the accounting for extracurriculars and clubs in partnership with faculty advisors
• Partner with Human Resources to ensure benefits plans, carrier feeds, and accounting are properly administered.
• Assist with annual budget preparation
• Monitor budgets with department chairs
• Manage annual financial audit
• Other duties as needed

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA professional accreditation
• Nonprofit accounting experience, including endowment accounting, preferred
• Five+ years of financial accounting experience
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
• Strong working knowledge of financial accounting systems
• Strong data analysis skills
• Ability to oversee performance and activities of outsourced vendors and other Business Office staff as needed
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong customer service and collaboration skills, including building relationships with parents, faculty and staff
• Understanding of the Catholic faith, single-sex schools, and the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet preferred
