Job description
CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT MECHANIC
Family owned and operated business for 70 years currently has an opening for a construction equipment mechanic. Technician must effectively diagnose and repair heavy construction equipment to the customer’s satisfaction.
Essential Functions

1. Efficiently and effectively diagnoses and troubleshoots heavy-equipment repairs and performs service repairs.
2. Work with a computer to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment
3. Read and interpret technical service information, manuals, bulletins, blue prints, and schematics.
4. Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations and guidelines.
5. Ensure that the service manager is kept informed of completed repairs and communicate any problems or issues found.
6. Build and maintain an adequate level of tools necessary to perform the service requirements.
7. Document and maintain proper records of time spent on each repair.
8. Provide labor hours daily to the Service Manager or coordinator to ensure timely posting of hours to the appropriate work order.
9. Continue service training education to enhance knowledge and service capabilities, and remain current on new technologies.
Competencies
1. Good working knowledge of equipment operations and mechanical functions required. Must have a strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
2. Possess and further develop good mechanical and diagnostic skills and problem- solving capabilities.
3. Proficient with Microsoft systems and applications. .
4. Work well in a fast-paced team environment.
5. Highly motivated and able to work independently with little supervision and with a strict attention to detail.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
As this is a full-time hourly position, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a
30-minute unpaid lunch, and with the possibility of overtime.
Required Education and Experience
The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Three years’ experience in heavy construction equipment diagnosis and repair or equivalent combination of heavy construction equipment education and experience
3. Class C (passenger vehicle) driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Commercial driver’s license (Class A CDL)
2. Class B with air brake
3. Graduate of two -year heavy construction equipment technical program.
