Job description
Interacts with City officials, community leaders and members of the general public to provide information and technical assistance in the resolution of neighborhood concerns/problems;
Makes oral presentations before community and civic organizations designed to educate citizens about cultural diversity and to reduce insensitivity among diverse groups;
Evaluates the overall program effectiveness; compiles and maintains information files on City and community activities;
Provides explanation of ordinances, rules, and regulations of City, state, or federal government programs and services;
Confers with department and other City officials in the planning and development of community relations activities;
Prepares and distributes reports, newsletters, and various informational documents; posts information and oversees content on website and various social media channels;
Assists in the investigation of claims of equal employment opportunity violations; conducts surveys to determine existence of systematic discrimination;
Assists in the development and implementation of training modules for the community, staff, and general public;
Develops or updates operating manuals and/or policies establishing methods of performing work in accordance with organizational goals and objectives;
Participates in the budget development process for the community relations program;
Initiates and drafts legislation for submission to City Council;
Responds to inquiries for information from other City officials, community leaders, and the general public;
Coordinates City services in neighborhood communities such as weed/high grass removal contracts, neighborhood pride events, etc.
May supervise the activities of employees responsible for maintaining positive relations between neighborhood communities; may train and assist program staff.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
