POSITION OVERVIEW


The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is a regular, part-time (20 hours per week) position who supports residents of the Emergency Interim Housing Site, Labath Landing, by identifying, scheduling, and managing volunteers for meal preparation, meal service, and other volunteer opportunities. The CEC builds relationships with community groups such as corporate, faith, and civic organizations to solicit volunteers and in-kind donation drives. The CEC responds to supply requests and distributes donations, oversees the volunteer-led creation of move-in kits, and communicates with staff regarding available donated items.


The CEC is further responsible for modeling the values and principles of HomeFirst within the agency and the broader community. The CEC is relentless in their commitment to ending homelessness via the principles of Housing First and Harm Reduction. They demonstrate this commitment through thoughtful, strategic program design and a scientific approach to performance improvement. Their participation in the continuous testing, analysis, and refinement of their programs reflects their personal pursuit of excellence in all that they do. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

The position reports to the Development Officer, Community Engagement and is a vital member of the development and Labath Landing teams.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Coordination (60%)

  • Serve as volunteer coordinator for Labath Landing, as well as any disaster response/emergency shelter sites that may be activated. Recruit, manage, and populate scheduling of volunteers to provide meal service, workshops, etc.
  • Create calendars.
  • Work with the Development Officer, Community Engagement, the Labath Landing site director, and program staff to ensure compliance with all Agency policies regarding volunteers.
  • Ensure that all volunteer supplies, such as name tags and sign-in sheets are available and in use at all sites.
  • Identify new opportunities to engage corporations, groups, and individuals in the agency’s work through volunteerism.
  • Schedule and organize off-site volunteer events at corporations and other locations, including kit builds.
  • Working with the development team, organize the agency’s annual volunteer event to recognize volunteers at Labath Landing.
  • Work with the Development Associate to maintain and report volunteer data and in-kind donor information in the agency’s donor database.
  • Assist the Development Team in identifying volunteer activities to enhance online presence.
  • Represent the agency as a speaker for community meetings, volunteer recruitment fairs, and other events as appropriate. Act as a tour guide for VIP visits.
  • Communicate with the Development team regarding interaction with potential donors and volunteers.


In-Kind Coordination (30%)

  • Serve as coordinator for receipt of in-kind donations to the agency.
  • Sort, organize, maintain, and coordinate donation inventory and distribution to agency programs.
  • Work with program staff to remain aware of current in-kind needs for all agency programs.
  • Respond to Client Supply Request emails in a timely manner.
  • Solicit in-kind donations and donation drives with individuals, schools, corporations, faith communities and community organizations.

Other (10%)

  • Work with the Development and Communications teams to provide logistical and tactical support for agency special events that might occur in Sonoma County. Recruit and schedule staff volunteers and outside volunteers when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Volunteer recruitment and management; Community outreach and engagement experience required.
  • Lived experience of homelessness preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with volunteer management systems such as Cervis.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with an ability to facilitate meetings, organize events, and build excellent relationships with key agency stakeholders.
  • Ability to think and act strategically and work independently.
  • Current, valid California driver license, auto insurance, and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to use a personal vehicle with reimbursement for mileage.
  • Able to carry 30 pounds.
  • Some nights and weekends are required.

SALARY OR SALARY RANGE

The salary range for this position is $20 - $22 per hour with limited benefits.
