Our Commercial Property & Casualty department is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team.
Key responsibilities:
- Objectively analyze diverse information on new and renewal business to accept, price, modify or reject business within delegated authority level for both Admitted and Surplus Lines Products.
- Effectively apply forms, endorsements, and deductibles to help mitigate risk.
- Develop strong business relationships with key agents and provide underwriting guidance to the agents.
- Maintain a profitable book of business within assigned levels of authority by using sound underwriting judgment and technical skills.
- Continue personal industry skills and knowledge development to meet the company goals of quality and timeliness.
- Maintain knowledge of current insurance market trends, conditions, competitive intelligence, and product and service innovations.
- Ability to interact collaboratively and collegially with colleagues, agents, and customers in a professional manner.
Job Requirements:
- At least two years of Commercial P&C underwriting insurance experience is required (experience with Commercial Property, General Liability, Inland Marine, BOP/CPP preferred)
- Pursuit of CPCU, CIC, or other applicable designations with a willingness to complete preferred but not required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Ability to Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts - strong customer service focus
- Strong organizational and time management skills required
- Strong intellectual curiosity
- Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks on-time
Annual Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,000
This position includes company-paid study materials and test fees for approved underwriting credentials from “The Institutes”.
