Must pass 2 diameter carbon steel super coupon 6g position. Needs to be local or close as this is a Maintenance contract as is scheduled on 4 - 10s Per diem is $90/day - days worked, if 60+ miles from jobsite

Job Summary

• Typically, 3-5 years and above documented field experience chosen craft discipline with the ability to read and interpret instructions. The ability to document, plan and perform work activities independently.

Job Responsibilities

• Must be able to observe and recognize problems during the welding process and adjust speed, voltage, amperage, or feed of the rod accordingly.
• Must be able to read and interpret prints and plans.
• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience required. Perform code (ASME, AWS or API) compliant welds using GMAW, SMAW, GTAW & FCAW processes.
• Properly use fabrication shop hand tools. (Grinders, drills, air tools, etc.). Operate forklifts & overhead cranes. Operate vertical/horizontal band saws.
• Rig, hoist/lift & move materials. Maintain safe and clean work environment. Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Weld Test: Must be able to weld qualification test coupon for; FCAW and/or GMAW welding process in the 3G & 4G position using Carbon Steel plate.
• SMAW and GTAW welding processes in the 6G position with Carbon and/or Stainless-Steel pipe.

Weld Test

• 2” Diameter, carbon steel super coupon (5/8" thick)
• 6G position
• Option GTAW/SMAW: Tig the root and hot pass with 70 series filler and stick the remainder with 7018 electrodes.
• Option GTAW: Tig the root and all remainder with 70 series filler
• The welder will be required to prep each of the pipe halves to their preference prior to tacking.
• GTAW root pass will be without a purge.
• The welder must cut and prepare 4 - side bend specimens 3/8" thick from the pipe coupon.
• The welding supervisor will inspect the specimens for proper preparation prior to bending and again after bending. the specimens must be acceptable per ASME section IX requirements.
• The test must be completed within 3 hours including cutting, prepping and bending of the specimens.
• The welder will not be paid for time spent on a failing test.

Job Qualifications

• 3-5 years proven experience.
• OSHA 10
• High School Diploma / GED
