Pay Range: $15.00/hr. - $18.56/hr.

Workdays & Hours: Must be able to work Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays. Respond to request for collections after business hours including Sundays. Warehouse and outside environment exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and seasonal weather.

A Code Compliance Technician job is available with The City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Department within the Solid Waste Division, Dead Animal Collection. The City of Fort Worth, Solid Waste Services collects, consolidates, transports and properly disposes of animal carcass. The City of Fort Worth properly disposes of approximately 85,000 pounds of animal carcass waste per year and averages 480 collections request monthly. These requests will come from the residents of Fort Worth and all customers that call to the City of Fort Worth Call Center to make a request for collections within the City of Fort Worth. As part of our team, you will collect and dispose of animal carcass (while following federal, state and local environmental regulations. The selected candidate will identify, collect, consolidate and transport animal carcass from citizens of Fort Worth. The candidate will need to stay abreast of changing regulations while completing all continuing education classes to maintain environmental, safety and health certifications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and no previous experience required.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Candidate selected for hire must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screen, Physical and Criminal Background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating minor equipment such as air tools, scrappers, shovels, ratchets, dollies.
- Previous work experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Performed basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Customer Service experience.
- Experience working with cleaning or collecting animal carcass.
- Identification or process training, Identifying animals and disposal at landfills.
The Code Compliance Technician job responsibilities include:
- Performing collection, disposal of trash and animal carcass at the landfill.
- Operate hand tools and city vehicle on daily basis.
- Work effectively independently as well as in a team atmosphere and follow safety regulations.
- Communicate proper environmental disposal to the general public and commercial contractors as needed and perform other duties as required.
- Meet collection time objectives.
Working Conditions
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
Physical Demand
Depending on assignment, task will typically exert up to 150 pounds of force routinely, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
