Job description

Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on assigned machines.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

o Uses proper safety equipment to ensure surfaces are adequately prepared for all operations
o Inspecting parts to specifications and making adjustments, or tool changes as necessary to maintain quality specifications.
o Sets up and operates a production machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
o Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.
o Maintains shop, equipment, tools, vehicles, etc. for the purpose of ensuring the availability and functioning of required items and ensuring safety
o Coordinates with shop supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently, on time, and with no defects
o Assists others as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
o Adheres to safety policies to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and surrounding coworkers
o Performs other related duties, as assigned, to maintain a steady flow of product through the shop and to ensure an efficient and effective work environment

o Quality, accuracy, thoroughness, and reliability of work performed
o Meet all safety record with no damage to products or equipment . Operate/monitor equipment during operation to ensure quality production and minimal unplanned stops.
o Communicate with team members and support teams to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
o Attention to Detail. Teamwork. Physical Stamina and Strength to Handle Heavy Equipment and Work Independently.
o Ability to establish and maintain trust and respect of shop supervisors and coworkers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

o Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English
o Need to be able to read metric tapes
o Able to lift 40 pounds and carry 30 pounds
o Must be able to push /move objects up to 50 pounds of force
o Pulling requirements up to 122 pounds of force
o Necessary to stand, walk, and stoop up to 99% of shift
o Flexibility is necessary to work with others in a variety of circumstances and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods
o Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities, communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules, work as part of a team, and work with constant interruptions during the workday
o Employee must be able to deal effectively with times pressures, long hours, rapidly changing priorities, and stress

Working Conditions

Machine Operators at Veritas Steel work indoors in a large open warehouse. There is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel, and other possible hazardous conditions.

Earplugs, hardhats, respirator, safety glasses and steel-toed boots with metatarsal guards are required.
