Job Summary
The University of Colorado Boulder Office of Information Technology department encourages applications for a
Cloud Portal and Integration Software Engineer! This position collaborates with the Associate Director of Cloud and Research Computing Architecture and serves as the primary software engineer for the Cloud Foundations Service. As part of a team of Cloud and Network Engineers and Billing Technicians, the Engineer is responsible for technical development and deployment of user portal(s) and integration of toolsets for a multi-cloud platform supporting research, academics, and administration. This requires knowledge of public cloud environments, integration tools (REST APIs), scripting languages and continuous integration/continuous deployment. This position also assists with development and implementation, service definition, strategy, design, transition, and operation of all IT services related to cloud infrastructure.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Portal and Integration Development and Operations:
- Participate in the engineering, facilitation, and implementation of public cloud infrastructure with the ability to provide public IaaS services to CU Boulder through the Cloud Foundations Service.
- Develop and implement user facing tools/portals and back-end integrations to simplify the experience of using public cloud environments in the University context.
- Continue to bridge gap between development and operations with a strong bias towards ‘Infrastructure as Code’.
- Develop, integrate, test and deploy the technical components of the cloud foundations service including Infrastructure as Code, Continuous Integration and Tests, Deployment Tooling and Application components.
- Participate in the agile team supporting public cloud technologies.
- Resolve incidents in a timely manner while continually aspiring to identify and eliminate the root cause of incidents and major incidents.
Evaluate Potential Technologies:
- This position will investigate new technologies that support tactical and strategic objectives. This position will also build, test, and evaluate new technologies to recommend their applicability to key organizational and program objectives.
- Changes to infrastructure, advances in technology, and changes in regulatory expectations may identify performance constraints or opportunities to particular system infrastructure objectives. This position will evaluate potential products or techniques to provide insight into new program projects and services before they are vital that will help the organization remain relevant and to evaluate opportunities in a timely manner.
Supply to open and community source projects:
- This position is expected to make use of open and community source projects in support of the cloud broker service and will be expected to interact positively with these projects and chip in back bug reports/fixes and enhancements as needed by CU Boulder.
Professional Development:
- This position will maintain professional expertise in the field by reviewing trade publications lists, studying the latest vendor trends, reviewing pertinent mailing lists and attending seminars, training sessions, and conferences. This position will identify and elect relevant training opportunities that would be most beneficial to the organization.
What You Should Know
- This position is in a hybrid work situation, coming on campus once per week.

What We Can Offer
- At the Professional level, $71,500 to $82,240
- At the Senior level, $86,900 to $95,000

What We Require
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field. A combination of education and related experience may be substituted for the degree on a year for year basis.
- At the professional level: 1 year of experience that is a combination of the following:
- Application or integration development experience using more than one language (e.g. Typescript, Python, GoLang, etc).
- Experience with cloud services and technologies (AWS, MS Azure, GCP) and/or foundational cloud certification (AWS Cloud Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Google Cloud Foundations).
- At the senior level: 3 years of experience that is a combination of the following:
- Application or integration development experience using more than one language (e.g. Typescript, Python, GoLang, etc).
- Experience with cloud services and technologies (AWS, MS Azure, GCP) and/or foundational cloud certification (AWS Cloud Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Google Cloud Foundations).

What We Would Like You to Have
- Proven knowledge of version control with Git and continuous integration/deployment tooling (Github actions, Gitlab, Jenkins, CircleCI, etc).
- Proven knowledge building container based applications and deploying to Kubernetes or a public cloud K8S equivalent.
- Scripting ability to enable automation and deployment of infrastructure as code with Terraform and/or Ansible.
- Knowledge of cloud landing zone architectures (AWS Control Tower, Azure CAF, etc).
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, and ability to communicate sophisticated technical ideas to many audiences.
