The Opportunity: Clinical Supervisor, Primary Care

What You’ll Work On

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for being the first line leader for all clinical support staff in two primary care practices, including medical assistants, team nurses, and clinic technicians. This position will report to the Practice Manager who oversees both practices (Burlington and Watertown).

Responsibilities

  • Help cover day-to-day operations as needed including troubleshooting, scheduling and other administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate training of clinic staff and assist with recruitment of new staff. Ensure staff complete required training including HealthStream assignments.
  • Assist in writing and updating job descriptions, make decisions regarding employee requests, coordinate staff meetings, monitor progress and attainment of mutually agreed upon goals for the clinic staff.
  • Establish schedules to cover daily tasks and to provide coverage during absences of other clinic support staff. Ensure there will be adequate coverage for clinic operations when approving time off.
  • Learn in detail the MGB Integrated Care Ambulatory Flow model, and support all clinical staff to stay in flow
  • Learn and utilize Daily Management tools to verify specific target conditions are met, for example keeping to takt time
  • Ensure all clinical support staff reviews, understands, and follows relevant Standard Work documents
  • Provide and accept real-time feedback to and from staff on day-to-day performance
  • Provide ongoing feedback to the employee regarding work performance and time and attendance. Conduct timely 90-day probationary evaluations and annual performance appraisals. Provide feedback for the employee’s evaluation and makes recommendations when appropriate. Conduct one on one meetings with staff.
  • Support staff in identifying training needs, partnering with the clinical training team to address those needs
  • Provide feedback to clinical training team on training effectiveness over time
  • Actively participate in process improvement activities, including piloting own ideas to remove all forms of waste in our processes
  • Attend meeting and continuing education opportunities as directed
  • Responsible for payroll functions utilizing Kronos Time Keeping System.
  • Inform/update Practice Manager and clinical leadership of any clinic operation concerns to assist in problem solving (this includes but is not limited to, bumped clinics, room utilization concerns, resolving problems among patients and clinical support staff as necessary.
  • Report back to Practice Manager on weekly basis to discuss any questions, concerns or suggestions.
  • Maintain and update room grid and room assignments for each clinic session. Help maintain space assignments within clinic as well.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • At least 5 years of experience in a primary care practice setting
  • At least 10 years of experience in a clinical/clinical support role, such as Medical Assistant, LPN, or RN
  • Leadership or supervisory experience a plus
